Esquimalt Harbour,
HMCS Grilse at the jetty.

Royal Canadian Navy : HMCS Grilse.
H.M.C.S. Grilse at the jetty in Esquimalt Harbour. The conning tower area is covered by tarps either for security or maintenance. At the time it was Canada's only submarine, although it was on loan from the US Navy.
The stern of the frigate H.M.C.S. Beacon Hill (303) can be seen in the middle distance and on the far side of the harbour is the bow and bridge of H.M.C.S. Saskatchewan being finished over in Yarrows shipyard. She was built in Victoria Machinery Depot outer wharf and finished at Yarrows. I must have taken this photo from H.M.C.S. Ste. Therese, so that's another frigate in the foreground, possibly HMCS Stettler who we were often tied up with.
