| SUBJECT: After Action
Report, |

: Commanding General. XX Corps, Attn: Historical Officer |
| . |
| . |
1. In accordance with
letter,
XX Corps, dated 23 August 1944, the
After Action Report for herewith submitted.
|
|
During the entire period this organization was attached to the 195th
Field
Artillery Group with the mission of general support of XX Corps in the
Metz sector. With the exception of Battery "C" the battalion was
in position in the vicinity of St. Marcel (U7005950) for the
whole
month. On 26 October 44, battery "C" was attached to 90th
Division
Artillery to reinforce the fires of 345th Field Artillery
Battalion.
Battery "C" occupied a position in the vicinity of Vellers Les Rombas
(U8173)
on 26 October 44, to accomplish this mission. To date it is still
there. |
. |
.
|
On
3 October 44, the battalion formed a provisional battery to man 4
captured
German 88mmg guns. Considerable firing was done with these guns
(see
Fire Mission Record enclosed) until 15 October 44 to 28 October
44,
when they were turned over to other units. From 16 October 44 to 28
October
44, this provisional battery was inactive, until, on the last named
date,
it received two Russian 12.2cm guns. |
. |
.
|
During
October, the battalion took advantage of the stabilized situation and
the
meager amount of firing, to improve it's position, build shelters for
protection
from the elements, and provide comfort for all personnel. |
. |
| . |
| 2. The unit journal and a
record of fire missions are attached
hereto. |
