SUBJECT:   After Action Report,
TO          :   Commanding General. XII Corps,   (Thru:  182 FA Group).

  1.  The after action report for this unit for the period 1 January - 31  January, 1945,
       herewith submitted.

           (a)   Narrative.

At the opening of the period covered herein, the Battalion was attached to the XII Corps,  in general support thereof,  and further attached to the 410 Field Artillery Group for fire direction.  The unit was located in the vicinity of Medernach, Luxembourg, (VP907358),  in the 5th Infantry Division sector with
ZA that of the 80th Division.  There was no change in this organization for combat until 1600  11 January 45,  when Battery "A" was detached and moved to Boudeler, Luxembourg.  It arrived there at 0300  12 January 45,  and was attached to the 244th Field Artillery Battalion for fire direction,  with fire capabilities into ZA of 4th Infantry Division.
On 16 January 1945,  the Battalion moved to positions in the vicinity of Schieren, (822386), and was capable of fires into 4th, 5th and 80th Infantry Division sectors.  Battery "A" rejoined the battalion on this date at this place.
Batteries "A" and "B" displaced forward to Bastendorf, (VP8744), on 22  January 1945.  Battery "C" moved there on 23 January 1945. Headquarters and Service Batteries established themselves in Diekirch,  (86554230).
On 26 January 1945,  the battalion was attached to 182 Field Artillery Group.

           (b)   Missions.

During the entire period, the unit was assigned the mission of general
              support of XII Corps.

           (c)  Assignments,  attachments.

No change in assignment to 3rd Army.  No change during  period of major attachment to XII Corps.  On 26  January 1945,  unit relieved of attachment to 410 Field Artillery Group and attached 182 Field Artillery Group.
 

           (d)  Miscellaneous:
