2LT Charles M. Box flew on five missions with the Ray Jess Crew (#28, 29, 31,
33 & 35). He was wounded on mission #35 when he was hit in the head by
an explosive bullet. His life was saved by the quick actions of his fellow
crewmen. He was hospitalized and returned to the USA. His plane was
the B-17F #42-5432 The Hunting Club,
VK-B.
