The 319th BG did not fly a mission on 1 Feb 1944. So the
cause of Nelson's death is unknown. It is possible that he died due to
non-combat reasons. A second possibility is that on 28 Jan 1944 he was
injured when 41-18275 named Little Salvo crashed on takeoff. He then
passed away on 1 Feb.
