Leslie Heidelberger was killed during a training flight accident after arriving in England.  He had flown no combat missions at that time.  The cause of the crash was due to a tail surface problem which was later corrected on all B-26's.

The first two are Leslie as a cadet at Kirtland. 

The third is Judith, held by Leslie and standing next to her father.  They are standing in the front yard of Judith's grandmother's house.  Les grew up in that house.  It was the last house on the edge of town in Dumont, Minnesota. Les was Judith's mother's brother.
