Virgil
was one of the first draftees out of MI and served in the Army band.
After Pearl Harbor he was reassigned the Air Corps as a 90-day wonder.
After Virgil completed his bombardier training he was assigned to a B-25
group and served in Africa.
He returned to the states in 1943 and married Eileen.
He had other tours of duty in Panama, Korea (51-52) and Japan.
He retired at Scott AFB after over 20 years service.
He died in 1978. |
