Thomas Daniel A DE 43-12 775 463 From "Allyn's Irish Orphans....775th Sq., 463rd BG" booklet:
"A second mission which cost the 775th Squadron seven combat men was that of 19 March 1944 to Klagenfurt, Austria, where 2nd Lt. Harold Wolquitt, nav. was (later determined) killed and six men were reported missing:  Capt. Wilson E. Burrill, pilot; 2nd Lt. Christopher T. Kelly, pilot; 2nd Lt. Charles G. Edmonds, nav; 2nd Lt. Daniel A. Thomas, bomb.; Sgt. Coleman D. Moberly, right waist; and Sgt. Paul F. Johnson, tail gunner, the latter who returned safely some time later."

Apparently on that day, the missing men were flying as a composite crew with the 2nd Bomb Group, 429th Sq.

The crew is listed as follows:
Jennings Marshall (2nd BG)
Killy (463rd BG)
Edmonds (463rd BG)
Thomas (463rd BG)
Freel (2nd BG)
DeBersky (2nd BG)
Moberly (463rd BG)

John T VV 42-17 508 351 Became a POW on 22 June 1943 when his plane B-17, 42-29826 was shot down at 09:30 and crashed near Beek, Gelderland,Holland.

From the "S-2 Pre-Narrative":

Our A/C, 826, was seen with No. 2 and No. 4 engines on fire, losing approximately 60 MPH, by the crew of A/C 861.  The crew of A/C 851 reported seeing a wing fall off, and one parachute just before the target.  T/Sgt K. H. Huls, Ball Turret Gunner, A/C 851, whose guns were out, observed three E/AC destroyed by crew members of A/C 826 while it was going down.

Crew list, all POW:

CP: 2LT Burton W. Caruso
N: 2LT Charles R. Bryant, Jr.
B: 2LT John T. Turney

R: S/S John W. Ferno
BT: SGT Edward Knower, Jr.
WG: SGT Video Pacciotti
WG: S/S Fred L. Aye
TG: S/S Leasure S. McGinnis

Load list gives names as: John W. Cabiniss and Lawrence V. Ferns.  National Archives database of service numbers agrees with load list; except that it spells last name "Cabaniss" and gives middle initial "J" for Ferns. This looks like it was the crew's first time out.

Turgeon's plane was in the second element of the lead squadron.
