DEMING FIELD

(ABOUT 60 MILES WEST OF Las Cruces)
The cadre of instructors for the Deming school arrived from
Hobbs in November 1942 and from Williams between December 1942 and February
1943. Deming's first class, 43-4, of 74 students graduated 6 March 1943. Twenty
eight classes followed. The last class, 45-2, graduated 108 flight officers and
134 Second Lieutenants for a total of 242, on 13 January 1945. Approximately
4,400 bombardiers were trained at Deming, before the school closed in the spring
of 1945.
