Little is recorded about this short-lived bombardier training
school. Only one class, 42-16, of 73 Second Lieutenants graduated on 21 November
1942. Entire class list can be seen
here. Instructor Preston M. Crans (a graduate of class 42-3 at Albuquerque)
recalls being sent in July 1942 to work on opening the base. Only the flight
ramp was completed and flight operations commenced by use of the ramp as runways
with a manned AT-11 aircraft in the middle of the field serving as a control
tower! The function of the field was changed to B-17 transition training and the
bombardier school was moved to Deming, New Mexico upon graduation of the one
class. Graduation program.
