Began formal construction as an air field 12 July 1941.
Victorville became a twin-engine pilot training school on 18 December 1941.
Subsequent training of bombardiers began 3 march 1942 and the first class 42-7,
graduated seventy-five Second Lieutenant Bombardiers on 23 May 1942. O 15
October 1942 additional training with the D-8 (low altitude) commenced for a
short period. A total of 44 classes of bombardiers were trained at the field.
The last class of bombardiers to graduate was 44-52 which was awarded wings,
commissions and warrants as flight officers on 23 December 1944. The field was
inactivated as Victorville Army Air Field in the last days of 1944.
