Medals and Commendations

     Department of the Air Force General Orders Number 376, dated 13 October, 1954, awarded to the 15th RSM (including all its detachments) the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

    The 15th was awarded the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation as documented by Far East Air Forces General Orders No. 50, dated 6 April, 1954. (For convenience, the FAAF considered the 15th RSM to be attached to the 315th Air Division, (which it was not.)

    The Korean Service Medal was awarded to the 15th RSM, by General Orders No. 168, HQ. Far East Air Forces, dated 10, April, 1953.

    Other medals should be noted on your personal DD-214 as Item Number 27, under Decorations, Medals, Badges, Commendations and Campaign awarded or authorized. And for most if you were in Korea or Japan before the cease fire should be eligible for above listed plus National Defense Service Medal, United Nation Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and for most the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
