Robert K. Waldron
Robert K. Waldron, 88, of Boymel Pavilion Garden
Manor, died Sunday morning at Middletown
Regional Hospital. Formerly of Upper Arlington,
Mr. Waldron retired in 1977 from the Columbus
Dispatch as editor of The Dispatch Sunday
Magazine. His career spanned 46 years in
journalism, as a reporter, photographer, and
editor. During World War II he served three
years in Military Railway Service in North
Africa, Italy, and France, and was a public
information officer and co-editor of The Yankee
Boomer and Army paper. He has won numerous
awards for photography and writing and is a
member of the Society of Professional
Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi. He has also worked
for the Tri-Community news at Gahanna, Bucyrus
Telegraph-Forum and the Lima News. He is
survived by a daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou
and John Barker of Middletown; three
grandchildren, D. Seiffert, Susan Clinger, and
John Kent Barker; two great-grandchildren, Cathy
and Chris Clinger and several nephews. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Helen J. Waldron,
on Oct. 6, 1988; his parents, Louis and Clara
Welser Waldron; a brother, Harry Waldron and a
sister, Alice Waldron.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 10 a.m.
Wednesday at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral
Home with the Rev. Thomas Mellott officiating.
Interment at Galena Cemetery, Galena. |
