During the war

He was enrolled and mustered into service as a private on 28 January 1864 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 4). He served as a private in company B (1).

He was discharged on 29 April 1864 on surgeon's certificate of disability (1 [27 Apr], 3, 4 [27 Apr]).

In May 1864, the regiment reported him absent sick in hospital, at Washington, DC (6).

On 29 June 1864, the regiment reported him discharged (5). Lentz reported on 9 July 1864 that the regiment had been informed of his discharge (2).
