Before the war

During the war

He was mustered into service as a corporal on 18 October 1861 (1, 2, 6, 11). He initially served in company F (1, 10).

He was transferred on 4 December 1861 to company D (1, 5, 11).

He was wounded on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 8 June 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability, because of wounds (1, 3, 6, 7 [20 months service]). He was then a corporal (1, 3, 9). He had served for twenty months (9).

After the war

On 17 June 1863, he applied successfully for a pension (8, 10, 11).

On 25 June 1882, he was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers (7, 9). He suffered from wounds to his body (7, 9). He was admitted from Pennsylvania (9).

He was present at the Southern Branch in 1883 (7).

In 1890, he was living in the National Soldiers Home, Southern Branch, in Elizabeth City County, Virginia (6). He had had a gunshot wound to his right side (6).

He was discharged from the Southern Branch of the National Soldiers Home on 11 July 1903 (9). He was receiving a pension of $12 per month (9).

On 14 February 1907, he again applied for a pension (10, 11).
