Description

He was 5 feet 10-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and grey hair (2).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 19 October 1861 (1, 2, 4). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Lentz (1, 2). He was mustered in by Captain Lentz (2). He initially served in company K (1).

He was transferred on 24 December 1861 to company E (1, 6).

He was discharged on 19 July 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability, at Washington, DC (1, 2, 3 [10 June], 4 [16 May 62]).

He also served in company D of the 59th Pennsylvania Militia (4). He was mustered in on 3 July 1863 (4). He was mustered out on 18 [?] August 1863 (4).

After the war

In 1880, he was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Harriet, and children Maria, Jennie, John, Maggie, Thomas, and Edward (8). He worked in a store (8).

In 1890, he was living at 1351 Christian Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4, 5). He was a canvasser (5). David Curtis was also living there (5).
