David Adams

Before the war

He was born on 4 May 1824, to David Adams and Hannah Stover (6, 11). He was 42 years old when he enlisted (2, 7 [25 in 1850], 8 [36 in 1860], 9 [46 in 1870], 10 [56 in 1880], 11 [76 in 1900]). He was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

In November 1847, he married Nancy McCune (6, 11). They apparently had two children (6 [one--Anna Catharine], 7, 11, 12):

In 1850, he was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his wife Nancy and daughter Hannah, along with other people (7). He was a coachmaker (7).

In 1860, he was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Nancy, daughter Ann, and another child (8). He was a coach maker and owned $100 in personal property (8).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 2). He was mustered into service as a private on 28 February 1865, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3 [27 Feb]). He served in company F (1, 2).

He deserted on 19 June 1865 (1, 2 [discharged], 3).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his wife Nancy and daughter Kate (9). He was a coachmaker, and owned $100 in personal property (9).

In 1880, he was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Nancy and daughter Catharine (10). He was a coach maker (10).

In 1890, he was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (5).

In 1900, he was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (11). He was living with his wife Nancy, daughter Katherine, and her family (11). He was a day laborer (11).

He died on 18 November 1903, at Waynesboro, [Franklin County,] Pennsylvania (3, 6).

In 1910, his widow, Nancy Adams, was living in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania (12). She was living with her daughter Katie and Katie's family (12).

On 23 February 1911, his widow, Nancy Adams, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (3, 4).
