Andrew Ankeney

Before the war

He was born in May 1845, to David Ankeney and Nancy Agnes Dennison (9, 15). He was 20 years old when he was enlisted (4, 7 [16 in 1860], 8 [35 in 1880], 9 [55 in 1900], 10 [66 in 1910], 13 [6 in 1850], 14 [26 in 1870]). He was born in Pennsylvania (7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14).

In 1850, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (13). He was living with his parents David and Agnes Ankeny, along with other people (13).

In 1860, he was living in Jefferson Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his parents David and Agnes Ankeney, and Susan and Samuel Ankeny (presumably his siblings) (7). He was a farmer, and had attended school within the year (7).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 4). He was enlisted on 11 March 1865 (4, 5). He was mustered into service as a private on 11 March 1865, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (1, 3 [27 Mar?], 4). He served in company B (1).

He may have been charged for lost equipments, perhaps when the regiment mustered out (2).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3 [14 Jul], 4, 5 [14 Jul]).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (14). He was living with his parents David and Nancy Ankeny, and Elizabeth Ankeny (14). He apparently had no occupation (14).

In 1880, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his parents David and Nancy Ankeny (8). His occupation was reported as "at home" (8).

On 11 November 1889, he successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (5, 6).

In 1890, he was living in Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (3).

In 1891/1893, he married Liddie [unknown surname] (9, 10, 12 [46 years old]). In 1900, she had had four children, three of whom were alive (9). In 1910, she had had six children, five of whom were alive (10).

In 1900, he was living in Lincoln Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his wife Liddie and children Daisy, Bertha, and Noah (9). He was a farmer (9).

In 1910, he was living in Lincoln Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Lydia, and children Daisy, Noah, Morris, and Mary (10). He was a farmer, on a general farm (10).

In 1920, he was living in Lincoln Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (11). He was living with his wife Lydia, and children Noah, Morris, Mary, and Emma (11). He was a farmer, on a general farm (11).

In 1930, he was living in Lincoln Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania (12). He was a farmer, on a grain [??] farm, and had been at work the previous day (12). He was living with his wife Lydia and daughter Emma (12).
