During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 10 September 1861 (1, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain McArthur (3). He served as a private in company C (1).

He was killed on 3 May 1863 at Chancellorsville, Virginia (1, 3). On 7 May 1863, he was reported missing in action (2).
