During the war

He was a substitute (1). He was enlisted and mustered into service on 24 March 1865 (1, 2). He was enlisted for one year, at Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, by Captain Eyster (2). He served as a private in company C (1).

He died of disease on 20 May 1865 in Washington, DC (1, 4). He was buried in the National Cemetery at Arlington, Virginia (1).

Final statements were sent on 19 June 1865, but the descriptive roll does not say where they were sent (2).
