Description

He was 5 feet 8 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and sandy hair (6, 7 [5' tall]).

During the war

He was mustered in as seventh corporal of company H on 1 Oct 1861 (8).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer (1).

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 15 March 1864 (1, 6, 7). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Snyder (6, 7). He was mustered in as a private, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (7). He served in company D (1).

On 26 March 1864, he was mustered by Lieutenant Burke--but the descriptive roll does not say why (6).

On 18 March 1865, he was promoted from private to corporal, effective 1 March 1865 (1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9).

On 27 April 1865, he was promoted to sergeant, effective 1 April 1865 (1, 3, 5, 6, 7).

On 23 June 1865, he went on a furlough, which expired on 8 July 1865 (4).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 7).
