He was enlisted for one year, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by Captain Foster (2). His service was credited to the 22nd Congressional District (2). He served as a private in company G (1).

He received clothing worth $36.27 (2).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1).

After the war

In 1866/67, he married Julianna [unknown surname] (5). In 1900, she had had nine children, six of whom were alive (5).

In 1890, he was living in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (4, 6).

On 11 November 1899, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (3).

In 1900, he was living at 136 18th [?] Street, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (5). His occupation was "grocery" (5). He was living with his wife Julianne, two sons, one servant, and three boarders (5).

He died on 22 October 1906 (6).

On 11 May ??, his widow, Julia Braun, applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (3 [illegible year], 6).
