William Burkett

Before the war

He was 28 years old when he was enrolled (3, 6 [24 in 1860], 7 [44 in 1880], 8 [73 in 1910]). He was born in Pennsylvania (6, 7, 8).

In 1860, he was living in Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (6). He wasl iving with Miriam (presumably his first wife) and Harry (presumably their son) (6). He was a carpenter, and owned $500 in real estate and $50 in personal property (6).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 3). He was enrolled and mustered into service on 15 March 1865 (1, 3, 4). He was mustered in as a private, at Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania (3). He served as a private in company B (1).

He may have been charged for lost equipments, perhaps when the regiment mustered out (2).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 3, 4).

After the war

In 1876/77, he married Ellen [unknown surname] (8). This was his second marriage (8). In 1910, she had had three children, all of whom were alive (8).

In 1880, he was living in Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with his wife Ellen, his children Lena, Ella, Clayton, and Nancy, and a laborer (7). He was a carpenter and farmer (7).

On 8 January 1892, he successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).

He again applied for a pension on 23 February 1907 (4).

In 1910, he was living in Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (8). He was living with his wife Ellen and daughter Alice (8). He was a house carpenter (8).

He died on 15 February 1917, at Warriors Mark, Pennsylvania (4).

On 8 March 1917, his widow, Ellen S Burkett, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).

In 1920, his widow, Ellen S Burkett, was living in Warriors Mark Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (9). She was living with her daughter Alice (9).
