He died on 16 March 1862 (1), at Washington DC, of typhoid fever (2, 3, 4, 6 [apparently at Philadelphia, of apoplexy]). He was married (6). On 6 April 1862, he was buried, at Passyunk Lutheran, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (6).
On 10 March 1864, his widow applied successfully for a pension (5).
