Orlando Brumbach ("Lando") Clauser

Before the war

He was born in Pennsylvania (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14). He was 19 years old when he was enrolled (3, 9 [4 in 1850], 10 [13 in 1860], 11 [24 in 1870], 12 [34 in 1880], 13 [54 in 1900], 14 [64 in 1910]). He was born in December 1845, to Daniel Boyer Clauser and Susanna Brumbach (7 [1847], 8, 13 [Dec 1845]).

In 1850, he was living in Earl Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania (9). He was living with his parents, Daniel and Susanna Clouser, and others (9).

In 1860, he was living in Earl Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his parents, Daniel and Susanna Clouser, and others (presumably siblings) (10).

During the war

He was a substitute (1, 3). He was enrolled and mustered into service on 23 March 1865 (1, 3, 4 [28 Mar], 6 [14 Mar]). He was mustered in as a private, at Reading, Pennsylvania (3). He served as a private in company B (1).

He seems not to have been charged for lost equipment, perhaps when the regiment mustered out (2).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3, 4, 6).

After the war

He married Hettie Drumheller, probably in 1867/1868 (8, 13).

In 1870, he was living in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania (11). He was living with Hetty (presumably his wife), Clinton (presumably their son), and with Louis Frankinfield (11). He was an overseer at a lime quarry (11). He owned $300 in personal property (11).

In 1880, he was living in Upper Saucon, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (12). He was living with his wife Hettie, and children Harvey, Harry [?], and Eliza (12). He was a laborer (12).

In 1890, he was living in Northampton County, Pennsylvania (6).

In 1899/1900, he married Eliza [unknown surname] (14). In 1900 and 1910, she had had one child, who was living (13, 14). According to the 1910 census, this was his second marriage, and her first (14).

In 1900, he was living in Upper Saucon Valley, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (13). He was living with his second wife, Eliza, two of his children (Harvey and Annie), and Eliza's son William T Clymer (13). He was a farmer (13).

On 2 March 1903, he successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).

He again applied for a pension on 7 January 1908 (4).

In 1910, he was living in Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (14). He was living with his wife Eliza (14). He was a farmer, on a home farm (14).

He died on 18 May 1913 (4).

On 18 September 1916, his widow, Eliza Clauser, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).

In 1920, his widow, Eliza Clouser, was living in Bethlehem, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (15). She was living with her son William T Clymer, and his family (15).

In 1930, his widow, Eliza Clauser, was living in Bethlehem, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (16). She was living with her son William T Clymer, and his family (16).
