He was enlisted and mustered into service on 21 January 1864, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 2, 3, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Shipley (2, 5). He was mustered by Lieutenant Hildeburn (2, 5). He served as a private in company B (1).

He was absent sick beginning 10 May 1864 (6).

He is named on a list of men "to be charged" or "not to be charged"--perhaps for lost equipment, when the regiment mustered out--but the list does not mention whether he was to be charged (4).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 3).
