On 8 May 1863, he applied successfully for a pension (8, 19).
At the first meeting of the Survivor's Association, on 4 December 1871, he was elected one of the Trustees (17).
In 1880, he was living at 3715 Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (10). He was living with his wife Sallie, his children Joseph and Amanda, his mother Mary, two servants, and a boarder (10). He was a clerk [and?] guardian [?] [of the?] poor [?] (10).
He was chair of the committee of arrangements for the meeting of the Survivor's Association of the 91st on 13 December 1884, in Philadelphia (2, 16). He attended the meeting, and was elected Secretary (3).
In 1885, he was secretary of the 91st Pennsylvania Survivors' Association (13).
In 1890, he was living at 3601 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5, 6). He was an inspector, at 42 North 7th Street (6). He was living with Joseph M Caldwell (6).
At the December 1896 meeting of the 91st's Survivors' Association, he was elected Secretary (14).
At the December 1897 meeting of the 91st's Survivor's Association, he was reelected Secretary (15).
In 1900, he was living at 3807 [Spruce Street], Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11). He was living with his wife Sallie, his daughter Amanda and her family, and a servant (11). He was an "age bureau character [?]" (11).
On 15 February 1907, he again applied for a pension (19).
In 1910, he was living at 3807 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (12). He was living with his daughter Amanda and her family (12). He was living on his own income (12).
He died on 15 August 1914, at 3843 Hamilton Street, 24th ward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (18, 19, 20). He died of chronic interstitial nephritis (3 years duration), with arteriosclerosis (5 years duration) (20). He was a "gent" (that is, not working) (20). The funeral was held from his late residence, 3843 Hamilton Street, on 18 August 1914 (18, 20). Members of numerous organizations were invited to attend, including post 2 GAR (18). He was buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery (18, 20).
