Before the war

He was 17 years old when he was enrolled (3).

In 1860, he was living in Norristown Borough, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (6). He was living with Anna Coulston (presumably his mother), and Lacy [?], Mary, Caroline, and Letilla Coulston (presumably his sisters) (6).

During the war

He also served in company C of the 58th Pennsylvania Infantry (4).

He was enrolled and mustered into service as a private on 7 October 1861 (1, 3, 4). He served as a musician in company B (1).

He was discharged on surgeon's certificate (1, 3).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (7). He was living with Ann (presumably his wife), Lewis (presumably his son), and another person with a different surname (7). He worked in a brickyard, and owned $300 in personal property (7).

On 1 November 1882, he applied unsuccessfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (4, 5).
