Edward A Cox

Before the war

He was 18 years old when he was enlisted (4).

He was a clerk when he was enlisted (4).

Description

He was 5 feet 4 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, light eyes, and light hair (4).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 3 October 1861 (1, 4). He was enlisted for three years, by Lieutenant Pierce, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (4). He served as a private in company F (1).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on writ of habeas corpus, because he was under age (1, 3, 4). (I assume his inclusion in the company F Register of Deserters (2) is a mistake.)
