Before the war

In 1860, he was living in Burrell Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania (post office Blairsville) (7). He was a merchant, and owned $100 in personal property (7).

He was a groc[er] when he was enlisted (3, 4).

Description

He was 5 feet 3 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair (3, 4).

During the war

He was drafted (1, 3, 4). He was enlisted and mustered into service on 13 July 1863 (1, 3, 4). He was enlisted for three years, at Greensburgh, by Lieutenant B Senter [?] or Bleater [?] (3, 4). He was mustered in as a private in company K (1). His service was credited to the fifth subdivision of the 21st congressional district (3, 4).

On 30 April 1865, he was reported absent sick (5).

In June 1865, he was detailed as a nurse in the Division Hospital (6).

He was absent, in hospital, when the regiment mustered out (1).

After the war

He died on 17 July 1865 (2). He was buried in Arlington Cemetery (2).
