During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 25 October 1861 (1, 4, 7). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Hall (4). He served as a private in company F (1).

He was relieved from duty in the Pioneer Corps on 15 August 1863 (2).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 24 December 1863 (1, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Bealton, Virginia, by Lieutenant W H Carpenter (5).

He deserted from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 2 August 1864 (1, 3 [may be 27 Aug 64], 7).

After the war

On 31 March 1891, he applied unsuccessfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (6, 7).
