He was 5 feet 2-1/2 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, blue eyes, and light hair (2).

During the war

He was a substitute (1). He was enlisted and mustered into service on 27 March 1865 (1, 2). He was enlisted for one year, at Pottsville, Pennsylvania, by Captain Bowen (2). He served as a private in company I (1).

He mustered out with his company on 10 July 1865 (1, 2).

After the war

In 1870, he was living in the 5th ward, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania (3) He was a miner, and owned $1,900 in real estate, and $300 in personal property (3). He was living with Winifred (presumably his wife), and with John, Joseph, Sarah, Fannie, Mary, and Charles (presumably their children), along with John and William Judge (3).

In 1890, his widow, Winifred Dillion, was living in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania (4). Her sight was poor (4).

On 19 September 1891, his widow, Winnifred Dillon, applied from Pennsylvania for a pension, unsuccessfully (5).
