Description

He was 5 feet 4-3/4 inches tall, and had a dark complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair (4).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 19 November 1861 (1, 4). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant G Black (4). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1, 4). He had rifle number 1121 (4).

Because of disability, he was transferred on 1 July 1863 to the Veterans' Reserve Corps (1, 2, 3, 4). He served in company E of the 13th Veterans' Reserve Corps (5, 7).

After the war

He died on 22 December 1868, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of chronic dysentery (6). He was married (6). He was a laborer (6). He died at, or was buried from, 2333 Almond Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (6). He was buried in Franklin Cemetery, on 24 December 1868 (6).

On 26 December 1874, his widow, Margaret Douglass, applied unsuccessfully for a pension (5, 7).
