During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 24 July 1862 (1, 6, 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Gregory (6). He served as a private in company G (1).

He was wounded on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 28 April 1863 on surgeon's certificate of disability, by order of General Schenck (1, 4, 5, 6, 8 [13 Dec 62]).

After the war

On 28 May 1863, he applied successfully for a pension (7, 8).

He attended the 1884 meeting of the 91st's Survivors' Association (2).

On 11 September 1908, he again applied for a pension (8).

He died on 15 November 1914, of myocarditis and nephritis, at Philadelphia Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (3, 8, 9). He was widowed (9). He was a carpenter (9). His usual residence was the northeast corner of 4th and Somerset Streets, ward 19, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (9). On 20 November 1914, he was buried in plot 68 of the Philadelphia National Cemetery (3, 9).
