Description

He was 5 feet 7 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and sandy hair (4).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 20 January 1862 (1, 4, 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Black (4). He was mustered in as a private in company H (1).

He was captured on 1 June 1863 (1). On 28 July 1863, he was reported as having been dropped because he was missing in the campaign (probably after 11 June 1863) (2).

He was released on 1 August 1864 (1).

In October 1863, he was admitted to the Naval Academy Hospital as a patient (7).

He was wounded on 28 October 1864 at Hatcher's Run, Virginia (1).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 13 March 1865 by general order, War Department (1, 3, 8).

After the war

On 3 April 1865, he applied successfully for a pension (5, 8).
