He was a coach man (2).

Description

He was 5 feet 7-1/2 inches tall, had a light complexion, grey eyes, and light hair (2).

During the war

He was mustered into service as a private in company K on 19 October 1861, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1, 6). According to the company E descriptive roll, he enlisted for three years on 27 September 1861, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was enlisted by Captain Lentz (!), and mustered in by Dye, USA (2).

He was transferred on 24 December 1861 to company E (1, 6, 8).

He fought in the battle of Gettysburg (4), where he was wounded on 3 July 1863 (1).

He was reported returned to duty from hospital on 11 March 1864 (7).

When discharged, he was detailed as a hospital attendant (5).

He mustered out on 9 September 1864, at Weldon Railroad, Virginia, when his term expired (1, 2, 3, 6, 9).
