He was declared a deserter on 27 February 1863 (2). He returned to the regiment on 8 March 1863 (3).

He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (8).

He reenlisted and was mustered in as a veteran volunteer on 23 February 1864 (1, 5, 6). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Colonel Zulick [?] (5). He was mustered in by Captain Stretch (5).
