He was enlisted and mustered into service on 12 November 1861 (1, 5, 6, 7). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Gilbert (5). He served in company F (1).
He was promoted on 11 June 1862 to corporal (1, 4, 5).
He was transferred on 8 July 1863 to the Veterans' Reserve Corps (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7). He served in company 113 of the 2nd battalion of the Veterans' Reserve Corp, in companies A and B of the 1st Veterans' Reserve Corps, and company I of the 2nd Veterans' Reserve Corps (7).
On 28 April 1884, he applied successfully for a pension (8).
In 1890, he was living in Latty, Paulding County, Ohio (post office Follner) (6).
On 28 February 1907, he again applied for a pension (8).
He died on 3 February 1921, at Toledo, Ohio (7).
