He was on duty at slave pen in Alexandria, Virginia on 8 August 1862, when E Carroll Brewster was arrested for being drunk on duty (11). He testified that Brewster was not drunk at about 1 o'clock (three or four hours before he was relieved) (11).
On 8 September 1863, Sinex reported that he was in Philadelphia, and able to rejoin the regiment, and requested his return (4).

He died of typhoid fever, on 10 December 1863, in the Division Hospital, at Bealton Station, Virginia (1, 2, 7, 8, 10, 14). He was buried in Philadelphia National Cemetery (2, 14 [Mechanics Cem]). A headstone was produced by Gross Brother Lee Massachusetts; the contract was dated 1 June 1890 (2). He was then a sergeant (1, 6; the interment index (2) claims he was a private).
