Description

He was 5 feet 7-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, hazel eyes, and light hair (6).

During the war

He enlisted and was mustered into service on 23 August 1861 (1, 6). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia Pennsylvania, by Captain Starr (6). He served as a private in company A (1).

He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (8).

He was missing in action on 2 July 1863 (5). He was wounded on 3 July 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (1).

On 9 July 1863, he was dropped from the rolls, by order of Brigadier General Garrard (5, 6). On 28 July 1863, he was reported as having been dropped because he was missing in the campaign (3).

On 8 September 1863, Sinex reported that he was in Philadelphia and able to rejoin the regiment, and requested his return (2).

On 3 November 1863, he was reported regained from missing in action and under arrest (4).

[Bates does not list him as a veteran.]

He was reported returned from absent without leave on 21 April 1864 (7).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1).
