During the war

He was enlisted on 30 September 1861 (4). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Sinex (4). He was mustered into service on 20 September 1861 (1). He was mustered in service by Captain Dye (4). (One of the dates is obviously wrong!) He served as a private in company D (1).

He deserted on 20 March 1863 (1, 3).

He was dropped as a deserter on 3 September 1864 (5).

According to the regimental records, he was at Camp Convalescent, Alexandria, Virginia, on 8 September 1863, when Lieutenant Colonel Sinex asked for his return (2).
