During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 2 September 1861 (1, 2, 3). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Starr (2, 3). He served as a private in company C (1).

He was killed on 13 December 1862 at Fredericksburg, Virginia (1, 2 [missing in action], 3).

After the war

On 19 October 1893, his father successfully applied for a pension (4).
