Description

He was 5 feet 4 inches tall, and had a light complexion, brown eyes, and dark hair (3, 5).

During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 10 October 1862 (1, 3, 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Gregory (3, 5). He was mustered in as a private in company K, by Lieutenant Justus Gregory (1, 3).

On 23 February 1863, he returned to the regiment from duty at Windmill Point Hospital (2).

He was injured in the leg in May 1863 (7).

On 30 April 1865, he was reported absent in hospital, wounded (10).

He was discharged at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 16 or 17 May 1865 by general order 68, War Department (1, 4 [17 May], 6).

After the war

On 11 July 1874, he applied successfully for a pension (8, 9).

On 28 [?] June 1887, his widow, Caroline M Kaepplinger, applied successfully for a pension (8, 9).
