He was captured at Chancellorsville, Virginia, perhaps on 5 May 1863 (8, 9). He was reported missing in action on 7 May 1863 (5). He was paroled on 14 May 1862, by order of General Robert E Lee, CSA, at Richmond, Virginia (9). On 23 May 1863, he was reported gained from missing in action (6).
He was in Camp Parole, Alexandria, Virginia, on 8 September 1863, although Sinex had heard that he had been exchanged (2). On 9 October 1863, he was reported regained from missing in action (7).
He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 26 December 1863, at Bealton, Virginia (1, 10).
On 2 March 1864, Colonel Gregory detached him for duty with the recruiting service in Chester, Pennsylvania (3, 4).
He was discharged on 22 March 1864 by special order, Secretary of War, to accept a commission (1, 10, 11). He was then a sergeant (12). However, the pension index does not mention any other service (12).
He applied successfully for a pension on 14 July 1890 (12).
He died on 7 June 1891 (12, 13).
His widow applied unsuccessfully for a pension (12).
