He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (5, 6). He was 21 years old when he was enlisted (5, 6 [48 in ?1892]).

Description

He was 5 feet 7 inches tall, and had a light complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair (5).

During the war

He also served in company B of the 29th Pennsylvania Infantry (8).

He was mustered into service on 20 February 1864 (1, 8). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Brooke (5). He served in company I (1).

He was promoted to corporal on 22 October 1864 (2, 4).

On 27 April 1865, he was promoted to sergeant, effective 1 April 1865 (1, 3).

He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with his company (1, 4, 5, 8). He served for seventeen months (6).

After the war

On 24 July 1890, he applied successfully from Pennsylvania for a pension (7, 8).

On 20 August 1892, he was admitted to the National Soldiers Home (6). He was admitted from Pennsylvania (6). He had heart disease (6).

In 1893, he was present in the Central Branch of the National Soldiers Home (6). He was receiving a pension of $6 per month (6).

On 20 February 1907, he again applied for a pension (8).

He died on 28 May 1916, at the National Military Home in Ohio (8).
