He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (12). He was 19 years old when he was enlisted (12).
He was 5 feet 4-1/2 inches tall, and had a fair complexion, hazel eyes, and red hair (12).
He was enlisted and mustered into service on 10 October 1862 (1, 12). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Lieutenant Gregory (12). He was mustered in as a private in company K, by Lieutenant Justus Gregory (1, 12).
He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (13).
Beginning 13 August 1863, he was under arrest (4). On 3 September 1863, he was sentenced by general court martial to lose $10 per month for three months and to work at hard labor 6 hours per day for 30 days, without being excused from his ordinary duty (3). He was still reported under arrest on 5 September 1863, but not on 6 September 1863 (5, 6).
On 30 December 1863, Sinex reported that he was one of 30 men who had more than fifteen months to serve who were willing to reenlist (2). On 2 January 1864, he was transferred to the 155th Pennsylvania Infantry, while those eligible were on veterans' leave (7, 11).
He was wounded in action 23 May 1864 by being shot in the leg (1, 10, 14). He died on 6 June 1864 of those wounds (1, 8, 9, 10).
He was buried in the National Cemetery at Arlington, Virginia (1, 9).
