He fought at the Battle of Gettysburg (19).
He returned to the regiment from hospital on 19 December 1863 (10).

He reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on 26 December 1863, at Bealton, Virginia (1, 5, 15).
He was promoted on 1 January 1864 to sergeant major (4, 5; 1 [has 15 Jan], 11 [23 Jan], 12 [23 Jan], 15 [15 Jan]).
On 2 May 1864, he was present sick (16). He was absent sick beginning 8 May 1864, until some time after 9 June 1864 (17).
He mustered out on 10 July 1865 with the regiment (1, 15).
On 18 August 1876, he died at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of disease of the heart (38). He was a clerk (38). He was married (38). He died at, or was buried from, 1308 North 19th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (38). He buried on 21 August 1876, at Mount Vernon Cemetery (38).
