He was enlisted and mustered into service on 13 November 1861 (1, 6). He was enlisted at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Casner (6). He was mustered in as a private in company K, by Lieutenant Morris Kayser (1, 6).
He deserted on 23 March 1862, from Franklin Square Barracks (4). He returned from desertion on 31 July 1862 (4).
On 23 February 1863, he returned to the regiment from duty at Windmill Point Hospital (2).
He deserted on 30 May 1863, from hospital (1, 5). On 31 March 1864, he was dropped as a deserter (3).
On 10 September 1867, his widow, Margaret Martin, applied unsuccessfully for a pension (7, 9).
