During the war

He was enlisted and mustered into service on 16 October 1861 (1, 3 [15 Oct], 5). He was enlisted for three years, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Charles L Burr [?] (5). He was mustered in as a musician in company H (1).

He was discharged at Fort Schuyler, New York, on surgeon's certificate of disability on 13 March 1863 (1, 2 [no date], 3, 4, 5).

After the war

He was married to Sarah Stone (6).

On 24 October 1864, he applied successfully for a pension (7, 9).

In 1890, he was living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (3).

He died on 23 September 1892, of heart disease (8). He was married (8). He was a "gent" (that is, he was not working) (8). He died at, or was buried from, 2259 [?] Orianna Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (8). He was buried on 26 September 1892, at Norris Sywan [?] UP Vault, and apparently then buried in Greenwood Cemetery (8).

On 17 October 1892, his widow, Sarah Mealey, successfully applied from Pennsylvania for a pension (7, 9).
