He was 20 years old when he was enlisted (3). He was born in Dublin (probably the Dublin in Bucks County, Pennsylvania) (3). He may be the Robert Mervine born around 1847 to George Parker Mervine and Mary Ada [unknown surname] (6).

Description

He was 5 feet 7-1/2 inches tall, and had a light complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair (3).

During the war

He was a substitute (1, 4). He was enlisted and mustered into service on 28 March 1865 (1, 3, 4). He was enlisted for one year, at Norristown, Pennsylvania, by Captain Yerkes (3, 4). He served as a private in company C (1).

He died on 29 May 1865, at Washington, DC (1). He was buried on 30 May 1865 at Alexandria National Cemetery, Alexandria Virginia, grave 3,181 (1) or plot 2981 (2).

Final statements were sent on 19 June 1865, but the descriptive roll does not say where they were sent (3).

After the war

On 25 September 1870, his mother, Mary R Mervine, applied successfully for a pension (5, 7).
